I just saw the video and Dave is.....a complete asss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It really bummed me out because since he is a friend of the academy, I was rooting for him and excited to see his victory, but when he purposely (very purposely...that guy was tapping and screaming for a while) broke that guys arm, I just thought that was so unnecessary and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I've seen Jacare hurt peoples arms, but he always releases as soon as the guy taps(or yells). Dave was clearly trying to hurt that guy and held on way too long. Having said that, I have to say the guy looked really smooth and set up a really nice inverted armlock inspite of being a weenie. www.youtube.com/watch?v=R602yHp4nuQP.S. If someone can justify what he did...please educate me cause I want to admire the guy.

you know...I was just watching the ending in loop mode and I might need to retract that previous statement. He does hold on a little long (the guy is screaming for about 2 sec) but maybe with all the adrenaline...I don't know. I guess I've seen worse.

uhh! i don't understand what was wrong.... when u compete this happens. Your statement is exactly why it was wrong...especially for Dave to do that. Let me elaborate. Competition is about winning and submitting your opponent. However, when your opponent taps or yells, the fight is over. You won. It's that simple. There is no justification to purposely break someones arm after they have already surrendered. It is even worse for Dave because he is a published author and has a bunch of students that look up to him, and they will just say what you just said..."When you compete..this happens". That is a terrible attitude to have and it's not good for the sport. I do want to beat my opponent. I do want to submit my opponent, but I don't want to hurt my opponent after they have already surrendered. That is just horrible. Look, if the guy didn't tap and Dave broke his arm...that would be cool and I would respect Dave for his desire to win. If Dave put the armlock on really quick and snapped the guys arm before he could tap...O.K. Then I would agree with your statement that when people compete, accidents happen. But again, when the guy is yelling and screaming and Dave continues to pull on the guys arm after he surrendered, you just can't justify that with "When you compete...this happens". Sorry, I don't agree with you.

i didn't think he held on for really long and the guy wasn't tapping until the roll. Also, it seemed like a very subtle tap and in situations like that when adrenaline is pumping you can't feel the tap or even when it isn't you can barely feel it.

hmm! i have seen people screaming in tournaments witch has caused the opponent to let go of his grip, and guess what?the fight continued.unless the guy taps...u dont let go. I know this to well, since i had to break a guys arm once.also Japanese by the way they are known not to tap.
